San Francisco was favored by 3.5 but their defense couldn't stop a nosebleed last Sunday evening, while Aaron Rodgers looked to be back in prime condition. Tough loss for San Francisco, who are -3 (opened at -2.5) favorites vs division rival Seattle at home this Sunday. Why do we suspect Seattle will rebound from a horrid performance at Minnesota and hand SF another loss? Good for S&HR as this capped off a 4-1 week for us in the MEGA CONTEST.
MEGA CONTEST WEEK 3 RESULTS:
- Compare and contrast the NFL's treatment of Ben Roethlisberger years ago with their treatment of Deshaun Watson. Roethlisberger was accused of sexual assault by 2 women. He was sued civilly but never charged criminally. Commissioner Goodell suspended him for 6 games (eventually reduced to 4) and forced Roethlisberger to attend a 1984-esque "behavioral evaluation." Watson has been accused of sexual assault by 22 women who are in the process of suing him. At least 10 of them have talked to police. Strange how differently the cases are handled. Wonder what the reason could be for such radically different treatment...
- Speaking of Watson rumor has it the Dolphins and Eagles are both trying to trade for him. The Texan's demand of "three 1st round picks + 3 additional assets" may be reduced. S&HR will make a prediction: Deshaun Watson will never win a Super Bowl.
- Taylor Heinicke makes the Washington Football Team look foolish for signing Ryan Fitzpatrick in the first place. He's not playing great but is obtaining more or less the same results Fitzpatrick is capable of.
- When are the Eagles going to give Gardner Minshew a chance? He had 16 TD / 5 INT for Jacksonville last season and doesn't get a chance to start. Jalen Hurts showed his true worth in Dallas last Monday night.
- This St Louis lawsuit vs the NFL isn't getting quite the attention it deserves. If the city keeps winning could they force the NFL to grant an expansion team? Or move the Bills there? Watch this one as it gets more interesting by the week.
- Could the Colts be any more pathetic? They were in a perfect spot @ Tennessee, visiting them in Nashville off a road underdog win and still couldn't cover. At what point does owner Irsay get tired of losing every week? Not only are the Colts making themselves look bad but S&HR as well since we predicted big things for them this season.
- When over 90% of the betting public are on one side doesn't that make the other side an automatic wager? We'll get an answer Sunday night as Tampa has 96% of the public money at New England.
MEGA CONTEST SELECTIONS:
Jacksonville +8 (win)
Carolina +5
Baltimore PK
Pittsburgh +7
Las Vegas +3.5
SURVIVOR SELECTION: BUFFALO
- Fresno St. reinforced the old "back to earth" maxim last week by failing to cover the massive -30 spread at home vs. UNLV. UNLV led for much of the game but ended up losing by 8.
- Another 30 point underdog, Bowling Green, went into Minnesota and shocked the world winning 14-10. Minnesota cannot do anything vs. Ohio teams this year. The Gophers lost to Ohio St and Bowling Green, while the Vikings lost to Cincinnati and has Cleveland -2 visiting this Sunday.
- Stanford blew it for us at home to UCLA losing 35-24. UCLA apparently had an attitude after the awful loss at home vs Fresno St.
COLLEGE SELECTIONS:
