AMERICAN TURF CLUB SELECTIONS: DAY 3

Here's the third installment of the American Turf Club series. We're taking every selection in the tip sheet and seeing how it works out. Wednesday was a dreadful day capped off with a big place wager win that turned into an objection / disqualification - a horse named Oscar P Q became Oscar D Q. For the purposes of this report all horses selected in ATC were wagered in the following way: $2 to win / $2 to place A $1 exacta box was played when more than one selected horse was in a race "X" denotes a losing horse SCR denotes a scratched horse * denotes a "Four Star Selection" - bet double the normal amount ($4 win/$4 place) In the William Henry Harrison Stakes at Indiana Grand (Race 8) an upset occurred when #9 Maters N Taters held on to win at 21-1 odds. Oscar P Q came in second at 47-1, and I was looking forward to seeing what the place wager would pay - but then there was an objection. It was determined that #4 Oscar P Q interfered with #3 Stop Hammertime in the stretch. Oscar P Q was disqualified and moved to 4th place, while Stop Hammertime was moved up to 2nd.

Race 1 had #5 Enduring Love finish in 4th, he simply had no room. Race 4 worked out just as planned, #1 Fat Daddy and #2 Baritone finished 1st and 2nd respectively, W/P wagers paid a combined $12.60 while the $1 exacta paid $11. #4 Lucky to Have Me weakened early and finished 2nd to last in race 5, while in race 6 Goodfriday Morning and Grazia Who came in 7th and 5th.

Race 3 - 1 Li'lbito'charm $5.80 Race 5 - 5 The Jones Boy $6 Race 7 - 3 Austin Whylie X Race 8 - 6 Commissioner Dave X Race 9 - 4 Wizky's On the Bay $6.20/ 7 Get Set X Race 11 - 1 Don't Make It Easy X / 3 Tactical Plan $4.40 / 7 Transative SCR
In race 1 #1 Li'lbito'charm was the 3/5 favorite and ran like it, securing the lead prior to the final turn and making it look easy. The second winner in a row - and second 3/5 favorite in a row - was #5 The Jones Boy in race 5. #3 Austin Whylie finished 6th in race 7, #4 Wizky's On the Bay ran 2nd for $6.20 in race 9, Commissioner Dave ran 3rd in race 8 (23-1 #5 Catch My Vibe won race 8), and in race 11 Tactical Plan managed 2nd for a $4.40 payoff.

Race 1 - 1 Party in the Raine SCR / 5 Because of Susan X Race 6 - 2 Moneymeister X Race 8 - 2 Wesworld SCR
2 losers and 2 scratches. Race 1 saw an already short field of 6 become a field of 4 due to 2 scratches. #5 Because of Susan was last of 4. Race 6 was another 4 horse field (3 scratched in this one) where Money Meister failed to live up to his name and finished 4th.

Race 1 - 1 Pentimento SCR / 2 Rocky Rush X Race 2 - 5 Goldenite $3.60 Race 4 - 1 Empire's Score X Race 5 - 1 Arareco Lake X / 2 Peruvian Boy X Race 8 - 1 Unbridled Beast X / 2 Double Tuff X / 4 Oscar P Q X Race 9 - 6 Strong Words SCR / 10 A Little Eccentric X
In race 1 Pentimento was scratched (veterinarian) and Rocky Rush finished 4 in a field of 5. #5 Goldenite delivered a place win but the $3.60 wasn't enough to cover the $4 wagered. It was a dead heat for 4th place in race 4 between #1 Empire's Score and #5 He's a Warrior. Race 5 saw #1 Arareco Lake the longest shot and he ran like it, finishing dead last while #2 Peruvian Boy finished 3rd. Race 8 was referenced earlier... big place win by Oscar P Q was overturned after an objection from #3, #1 Unbridled Beast was 8th and #2 Double Tuff was 3rd. #6 Strong Words was scratched in the 9th and appropriately enough #10 Little Eccentric came in dead last to rub it in at Indiana Grand.

5 - 1 Paranoia $8 6 - 5 Hockey Puck $2.60/ 6 Built That Way X 7 - 6 Brazilian Bay $2.60 8 - 3 Stadium $9
#1 Paranoia needed a late effort to pull out the win in race 5. In race 6 #5 Hockey Punk placed to mitigate the losses, #6 Built That Way ran 2nd to last. #6 Brazilian Bay went off at 2/1 and placed to again bring back a meager return. #3 Stadium brought back a modest return by finishing 1st in race 8.
Penn National amount wagered: $22 Amount won: $22.20 Total: +$0.20
6 - 6 That's All Right X / 8 Boozin At Bozos SCR 7 - 1 J J's Crown SCR
Race 6 had That's All Right finished - you guessed it - 2nd to last while #8 Boozin at Bozos was scratched - perhaps he took his name literally? #1 J J's Crown was scratched in the 7th.
Canterbury amount wagered: $4 Amount won: $0 Total: -$4
7 - 3 Top Hat Warrior X / 6 Vow's Son X
The only race with selections at Mountaineer had #6 Vow's Son finish 5th and #3 Top Hat Warrior finish last to cap off this gambling nightmare.
