AMERICAN TURF CLUB SELECTIONS: DAY 4

Today wasn't as damaging as yesterday but more frustration as yet another apparent winner goes down to disqualification. The ATC selections for Thistledown were 0-2 going into race 7, where the selection was 9/2 #4 Royal'd. After a good effort and win it was ruled that Royal'd interefered with #3 Classic Mo. It appeared Royal'd was pushing Mo towards the rail in the stretch. So Royal'd was moved to 2nd (paid $5.80) while Mo was moved up to first. Let's hope the disqualifications are done with. A replay of the race may be viewed here. The results through 4 days have me down $75.60 so I'll need a productive weekend to show any profit. Saturday features a plethora of selections running so will be interesting viewing. #3 Dr. Shane ran like he should have his license revoked and ended up 4th behind a dead heat for 2nd. #2 Screamin' By ran 3rd and #7 Silky Blue ran... 2nd to last in race 4. #12 The Last Zip lived up to his ATC 4-star billing and won race 6 for an $18.90 payoff. Halo City was scratched in the 7th (main track only) and #3 Jemography came in 2nd for $5.90 in the 8th. A losing day, but just barely.

Race 3 - 6 Highest Praise $8.40 Race 4 - 5 Beach Peach $2.20 Race 6 - 1 Jova $2.60 Race 9 - 4 Saint J J X
Race 3 saw #6 Highest Praise run first with a claiming price of $12,500. #5 Beach Peach ran 2nd for a $2.20 place payoff in the 4th, then Jova repeated the place performance in race 6 for $2.60. Saint J J ended a mediocre day by finishing 2nd to last.

Race 1 - 2 Ted $5.20 Race 5 - 4 Thatsabadboy X Race 6 - 4 Robber Baron X
The short price winners continued in race 1 with $25,000 maiden claimer #2 Ted finishing 1st ($3 win/$2.20 place). #4 Thatsabadboy didn't impress in race 5, finishing 3rd. #4 Robber Baron succeeded in robbing bettor's cash, finishing 4th in race 6
Golden Gate amount wagered: $12 Amount won: $6.80 Total: -$5.20
Race 1 - 1 Graciana SCR Race 3 - 11 Lady of Luxury X Race 5 - 7 My Girl Steve X Race 7 - 4 Stagecoach Mary X Race 8 - 5 Illegal Smile SCR / 6 Never Forget* SCR
What at first glance looked to be an interesting day got a lot less interesting, with 3 of 6 horses scratched. Graciana was scratched by the trainer, while Illegal Smile and 4-star special Never Forget bowed out when the race was moved to dirt. That left 3 horses, all losers. In race 3 #11 Lady of Luxury finished 3rd. #7 My Girl Steve just missed coming in 3rd, then #4 Stagecoach Mary ran like her $50,000 claiming price was entirely too high, finishing 2nd to last.

Race 1 - 6 Modern Muse SCR Race 5 - 8 Bayou Benny $9.40
In race 1 #6 Modern Muse was scratched (stewards). In race 5 #8 Bayou Benny was the favorite and raced like it, bringing in $9.40.

Race 3 - 5 Fight Like Cersei X Race 4 - 3 Widget Factory $5.80 Race 7 - 7 Just Gets Better $14.80
Race 3 saw #5 Fight Like Cersei show zero fight at all in a last place effort. #3 Widget Factory finished second for $5.80 in race 4. #7 Just Gets Better lived up to his name, finishing second in race 7 for $14.80
