Pete Aiello said STARSHIP MISHKA "needs room in the worst way" after half a mile - she found it for a thrilling win by a neck over LA RUSIA. Four star special COZY CAFE was rather forgettable, only rallying for 4th. The art of racing proved too complex for COMPLEX SYTEM (jockey Angel Arroyo) as he not only got off to a slow start, but finished last after getting up as far as 3rd. LOYAL LOUIE ran a spirited race but couldn't get past RICKI TICKI TAFFI, settling for 2nd. SWEENEY'S CAT was scratched (trainer).

Not sure what someone saw in EL EQUALIZER, as caller Dave Rodman said prior to 1/4 to go: "EL EQUALIZER not doing much." Finished last. HELLO GRACIE finished 6th in a similarly lackluster effort. DRIVE BY LAYOVER was scratched (re-entered). LOOKIN FOR CANDY went wire-to-wire, while MOONLIGHT MISS was never a contender, finishing 6th. MOJOVATION was stalked for a bit then fell back for 4th. PAT'S FACTOR led early and won a race with 11 scratches.

SOUTHERN FLAG couldn't catch a break but was game, finishing 3rd. NEWSWORTHY had lacked late response and finished 5th. HALO CITY was scratched (veterinarian). GOOD CREDENCE was as well (trainer). GHOUL started out poorly, 2nd to last, but rallied to finish 2nd (photo). BATTLE STATION took 3rd down the stretch then was overtaken and finished 4th.

JUJU'S SPECIALGIRL gained late on the outside for the small place payout. Race 6 was a mess, with 2 4* specials and another "regular" selection. These horses all had short prices, with the exacta only paying $4.10. BORA BORA tired at the far turn and finished last. DICK THE BRUISER (named after a local wrestling hero of the past, not a juvenile attempt at humor as my friend thought) made it look easy, winning by 5 lengths.

Things appeared hopeless for RUNCHIEFRUN over a half mile in but rallied down the stretch for 2nd. MORE ICE took over with 1/16 left to finish first. JIMI'S A STAR ran a good steady race but simply didn't have enough to finish above 3rd. SHE WANTS HALF took the lead early and never looked back.

INDY JONES was never a real factor but EROTIC finished 2nd after displaying no final kick. FLY THE SKY and FOOTHILL were both in the mix early but couldn't maintain it, finishing 3rd and 5th. FASHIONABLY FAST ran 3rd after a solid effort.

PLEDGEOFALLEGIANCE had a slight bobble out of the gate, came back to finish 4th. TIME LEVERAGE held off DUCALI and JENNINGS (who finished in a dead heat for 2nd) to win. BOLD TACTICS was spirited but couldn't do better than 3rd.

MONDAY CONFESSION rallied from 3 wide to take the lead and 1st. ALLEN'S ROCKET turned it on down the stretch for 2nd. JAYSKER dug in like a hero down the stretch winning his 2nd in a row. SAY IT NICELY made it look like the exacta win was going to happen but was overtaken by CHINLEE. WAY OUT WEST, as the Equibase chart says, "took no part," finishing last to finish off a profitable day at Prairie Meadows on a sour note.
